the fuck.

Don't look too far into it.

It’s important to remember that you are the only person *truly* making yourself believe you’re not ________ enough. There have been days when 200 crunches weren’t enough, by and large outweighed by days wishing I looked more like a woman rather than a 12-year-old girl. It’s also important to remember that there is often a very fine line between consoling yourself and censuring others.

"Whenever there’s a sex scandal, I feel sorry for sex. I felt sorry for sex during the Larry Craig brouhaha last summer. What if he liked being married and procreating and giving anonymous head? What if that was his sexual preference? What if he really was not gay, as he claims, but had sexual desires that seemed incoherent? Some of the response to Craig was like the response to moralists like Jim Bakker, Ted Haggard and now Spitzer—moralists deserve to suffer the same force of negative judgment they wielded on others. Shame on us? Shame on you, ha ha! But lots of the response was sheer homophobia. And all of it was sheer erotophobia."

US student pays fees in 14,000 single dollar bills →

world-shaker:

With video.

A Colorado University student has made a statement about the cost of higher education by paying his tuition fees in cash.

Nic Ramos said staff were ”not too pleased” at having to count $14,000 in single dollar bills.

University spokesman Michael Carrigan said the faculty had sustained millions of dollars in cuts, and the State of Colorado needed to step in.

…and millions of lulz were had that day.

sexmusic:

polar opposites // modest mouse icon

In desperate need of new music… Or at least everything I lost track of before I got a chance to dive into it. Also, wine is the best hangover ever. I wake up at 7am due to dehydration and am more productive than I have been all week.

“Our Patchwork Nation: The Surprising Truth about the Real America.”
The book is not a retelling of the stories told on this site, it is a comprehensive look at who we are as a country and where we are going using Patchwork Nation’s 12 community types and examining what they mean for the the nation’s Economic, Political and Cultural future.
Our Patchwork Nation has been called, “a captivating and at times surprising analysis, both rigorous and accessible” by Kirkus Reviews. The PBS NewsHour’s Jim Lehrer, says Our Patchwork Nation is “a book to keep always at your side and in your mind.” And the Washington Post’s E.J. Dionne calls it “a wonderful book that takes us way beyond red and blue - while also explaining the social, regional and economic roots of our partisan and ideological color wars.”

Boring. House cleaning fun today and a short conversation with Lucy. I reminded her that she doesn’t pay rent or have a job and that the least she could do was not throw up right next to my bed.
